Winter in Oregon + sunrise = magic for an elopement photographer. Sam and Zach traveled to the coast from Portland and got some practice for their future elopement in October. Being from Ohio and missing the west coast so badly, I planned a trip out to Oregon in the middle of February and met and photographed four amazing couples. I had connected with Sam and Zach on Instagram and planned a styled elopement on the beach of the Oregon Coast. We chose Haystack Rock on Cannon Beach for obvious reasons. I know a lot of couples don’t care for styled work, but being in Ohio and wanted to photograph more in the West Coast, I needed to show I can and slay in my future couples’ home state or destination for their elopement. Marketing as an elopement photographer requires investment to show that you are invested. Travel and shoots out of pocket to one day book that same location or something similar is number one. In 2019, I traveled to Oregon, Utah, California, and Colorado to do just that. Photographing engagement sessions and elopement inspiration was the highlight of my career and year.
