Cannon Beach Engagement Photos at Haystack Rock | Oregon Photographer

Why not have two Cannon Beach engagement sessions?! Katie and Jackson had already had engagement photos done but another local photographer, but visiting from Ohio, they won my engagement session giveaway! We actually did this session 2 hours after landing from Ohio. After being up for 18 hours with 4 hours of sleep and a 4.5 flight, my second photographer/assistant aka my sister, Rachael, hopped off the plane, got our rental car, and headed straight to the Oregon coast! We were trying to beat the rain because starting that night, it would rain EVERY SINGLE DAY of our 3 day Oregon trip.

Katie and Jackson met us on the cold and rainy beach but their smiles and attitude were sunshine. Katie kicked off her shoes even though the sand was bitterly cold. These two are getting married this fall by another Oregon wedding photographer but I felt so lucky to have captured even an hour of their love story. We played music and danced all over in front of Haystack Rock while watching the puffins and seagulls fly around us. I always find that the sunsets that are my favorite happen either during rain or right after a storm. The colors kept changing and made the session every 15 minutes look different than the last. The last 10 minutes of their session had this perfect pink glow, that I wish so badly I could go back and shoot again!

This was just the beginning of a weekend full of photo shoots and meeting so many amazing couples. Katie and Jackson were some of the sweetest and kindest people. So patient and so happy. If you are heading to Cannon Beach or planning a wedding there and need a Cannon Beach wedding photographer or Cannon Beach Engagement photographer, send me an email or inquiry! LET’S MAKE MAGIC. ✨

BEHIND THE LENS

MEET CATE

Photographer, artist, mother, occasional painter, inspired by music videos, film, and nostalgia.

At a young age, I was engrossed with storytelling. Writing short stories on a thrifted type writer. Filming music videos to my favorite songs. A school project wasn’t just papier-mâché, it was a production with costumes, music, and visual effects. Now, with photographs, documenting a wedding day of all its moments of little touches, side glances, stolen kisses, hidden tears, and belly laughs. I can’t but help but bottle up the day, transport a memory from a feeling to something you can hold onto.
