Providence Canyon State Park Engagement Session | Lumpkin, Georgia | Brittany + Josh

Brittany and Josh traveled two hours from Atlanta, Georgia to visit Providence Canyon State Park also known as “Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon.” We raced down to the bottom together and soaked in the fast moving sunset. They explored through all of the muddy and clay trails and it was so fun just to follow them around, barefoot, and capture them as they were. Providence Canyon State Park is made up of 16 canyons which explains its nickname but we didn’t make it to all of them. Providence Canyon’s orange clay and cliffs were amazing, and honestly I didn’t know something like this existed this far East. After the our session together, we headed back to Atlanta where our GPS went CRAZY and. ended up taking us out of state to avoid traffic on our original route. We ended up not making it back from Providence Canyon State Park for 3.5 hours instead of 2. Butttttt, it was fun and an adventure we will never forget.

I believe in the magic of capturing moments as they are, not just as they should be. My style is a blend of traditional portraits and documentary. I thrive when given creative control and trust, allowing me to blend into your celebration, capturing the actual spontaneous and genuine moments.

BEHIND THE LENS

MEET CATE

Photographer, artist, mother, occasional painter, inspired by music videos, film, and nostalgia.

At a young age, I was engrossed with storytelling. Writing short stories on a thrifted type writer. Filming music videos to my favorite songs. A school project wasn’t just papier-mâché, it was a production with costumes, music, and visual effects. Now, with photographs, documenting a wedding day of all its moments of little touches, side glances, stolen kisses, hidden tears, and belly laughs. I can’t but help but bottle up the day, transport a memory from a feeling to something you can hold onto.
