A Dreamy French Park Wedding in Cincinnati

Audrey and Grant lucked out big time with their wedding at The French Park House. If you know Ohio in September it can be a toss up on weather. You can get a bitterly cold day or a scorcher, well A + G had a day right in the middle. A day with a little of everything. A breezy, overcast day with pockets of sunshine and a light rain that hit right as the reception began, giving the coziest feel under the tent.

Not every wedding venue has a getting ready space for couples on their wedding day, but French House has a great space upstairs for both sides of the wedding party to hang out and get ready in. The second floor has two separate areas so the couple can stay separated. Naturally lit, white walls, hard wood floors, and lots of little rooms to space everything out. Audrey and Grant took advantage of the gorgeous space. Scroll down to see!

Audrey had a VISION. One of the first details Audrey told me about the design of their day was during her engagement session. She was so excited about the butter yellow bridesmaids dresses and she may or may not have a neck scarf. Spoiler alert, there was and it was everything. Her dress was a stunning two piece, corset and skirt paired with her veil. At the reception to swapped the veil for sleeves. Three subtle, but different looks for the ceremony, cocktail hour and then reception.

Audrey had a first look with her dad and bridesmaids but not with Grant until the ceremony. The first look between her and her dad was shared with her sisters and mom and made the moment even more emotional. Her dad was so in awe, and I could tell he saw his little girl for a split second. Grant got to share a first look with his mom outside, in front of the house. His mom could not stop smiling and looking at him all dressed up.

Before we go too far into the day, I just have to shout out Audrey’s many, many skills; embroidery. She embroidered “A & G” on Grant’s shirt sleeve, which you can see below. The napkins at the welcome party. (not pictured) The bridesmaids’ and moms’ pjs. Just to name a few. A timeless and thoughtful detail of the wedding weekend.

Audrey and Grant had their ceremony at Mother of God in Covington, KY, not too far from French Park. A traditional catholic mass and a heartwarming exit out the front doors before heading back to The French House for cocktail hour, my favorite part of the day.

The part of the day that transitions the nerves and formals to the party of the night. Whether the guest, bride, groom, or family this is the time you can take a deep breath, grab a bit to eat, and see everyone you know and love with a signature drink in hand. One hour of catching up, taking selfies and group photos, meeting plus ones, and hoping for that “one song” on the dance floor after dinner. If you are on the fence about having a first look and doing all of your portraits before the ceremony, take my word for it; you won’t regret joining your cocktail hour.

I believe in the magic of capturing moments as they are, not just as they should be. My style is a blend of traditional portraits and documentary. I thrive when given creative control and trust, allowing me to blend into your celebration, capturing the actual spontaneous and genuine moments.

BEHIND THE LENS

MEET CATE

Photographer, artist, mother, occasional painter, inspired by music videos, film, and nostalgia.

At a young age, I was engrossed with storytelling. Writing short stories on a thrifted type writer. Filming music videos to my favorite songs. A school project wasn’t just papier-mâché, it was a production with costumes, music, and visual effects. Now, with photographs, documenting a wedding day of all its moments of little touches, side glances, stolen kisses, hidden tears, and belly laughs. I can’t but help but bottle up the day, transport a memory from a feeling to something you can hold onto.
