Rachel and Jake’s lakeside wedding at Lake Lyndsay in Hamilton Ohio was the perfect wedding to kick off the summer in Ohio. This cute secluded venue was nestled back on the property overlooking the lake and sunset. The double staircase in the reception space was the highlight in the eyes of Rachel and Jake. The ceremony space had a gorgeous gazebo overlooking a small pond filled with fish and a couple of ducks.
Rachel and her bridesmaids were all wearing beautiful, floral matching robes. We immediately got started on their wedding details, which Rachel made so easy by having all the details ready to go including a cute little, pink ring box! A FREAKING DREAM.
Once all the girls had their hair and makeup done, we took a couple cute & fun photos in their robes before Rachel got in her gown. Rachel sharing a moment with her mom while she helped her in her wedding gown, while the bridesmaids anxiously waited for the reveal outside. The bridesmaid’s reaction to Rachel in her dress speaks for itself.
With an hour to go before the ceremony, Rachel and her dad had some time alone during the first lookout in a courtyard. Rachel read a letter that Jake had written for her before walking down the aisle. We then took a handful of bridal portraits and bridal details before sneaking away to hide before the ceremony.
After Rachel went into hiding, Jake came out and read the letter that Rachel wrote for him while he had a few minutes of peace and quiet before tying the knot. His portraits SLAYED. Talk about a natural! He wore the watch Rachel gave him on his birthday 5 years ago. 😭
Rachel couldn’t keep it together while walking down the aisle to meet her soon to be husband, who was tearing up as he saw her for the first time. The ceremony was filled with lots of laughs and tears as their families witnessed them become one. Jake did not hold back during his first kiss with his new wife — HEY-OH!
Family formals were amazing and effortless thanks to the family being the sweetest. The wedding party was a lively, fun bunch who were super cooperative and open to whatever prompts I called out. Even though we had planned on sunset portraits, we decided to take a couple of photos just in case the rain decided to come back. After weeks of rain, we were fully expecting it to rain the whole day.
Both dads had awesome, emotional speeches to thank everyone for coming. After dinner, we got to hear some funny, sentimental toasts from the best man and matron of honor. Rachel and Jake only chose one wedding game to do, which is one of my favorites; the Shoely-Wed game.
Around 8:30 pm, Will, myself, Rachel and Jake, snuck out to get some beautiful sunset photos by the lake in a nearby field. Rachel and Jake killed it of course. Literally still drooling over their wedding portraits.
After the rest of the guests danced and sung to “Don’t Stop Believing”, everyone headed outside to get ready for Rachel and Jake’s sparkler send-off. Thankfully they had gotten the long sparkles because we got the money shot on the first try. They shared one last kissed the sparklers fizzled out.
Best. Night. Ever.
